In the 1930s a developer planned a golf course on Long Lake Peninsula, outside Traverse City, Michigan. The houses were going to sit along one street: Outer Drive.

My grandfather was a professional golfer. In 1936 my family bought a lot on that road.

The developer went bankrupt and left town. The course never got built. The houses did. The cottage is still there — mostly original, full of memories.

Outer Drive is an independent golf journal and buyer’s guide: gear we’d actually carry, places we’d actually go, and opinions without the press-release tone. I like tracking what’s new and worth sharing — and being honest when something isn’t.

I hope you find something here — a brand, a trip, or just a reason to come back.

In golf, there is never a bad round.
